the Henry Ford

The Henry Ford museum and Greenfield village is a place every history lover has to visit. Henry ford did not collect pieces from famous people. He collected their whole house, factory, and everything inside of them!

The Henry Ford museum is massive! Inside it houses huge factory machinery, countless vehicles, full trains, airplanes, weapons, silver wear, and so much more. Some of the more notable exhibits are the Dymaxion house, Presidential limousines, Rosa Parks bus, and Abraham Lincoln chair. Inside also has one of the most high tech Imax theaters in the country.

Greenfield Village is location right outside of the museum. As the name hints at, it is where all the homes are located. You are greeted right away by the old rail road train that is still run all day long. Right past the train stop is a working farm. At Greenfield Village they have people acting the roll of the time period of certain main houses. They go about how people in those days would have been as they cooked home made food and did all the daily chores. They are friendly and answer your questions. The farm has a full line of animals and they work the large fields. Greenfield Village also has a fleet of running model T’s you can get a ride in. Some of the buildings are the Thomas Edisons buildings, the Wright brothers bicycle shop, George Washington Carver house, and many Ford buildings.

Besides just housing history; the Henry Ford has many reenactment events throughout the year. Some of the photos below are from the anniversary of the Civil War.
